Welcome to the Delavan Lake Yacht
Club.
The Delavan Lake Yacht Club offers a
fun family atmosphere where our youth meet other
competitive sailors that they will be friends with for
the rest of their lives, and where adults can build
relationships over the course of theirs. The DLYC has
five competitive fleets that sail a full season
averaging over twenty races a summer. With some of the
best inland sailing in southern Wisconsin, Delavan’s
size and open waters make for enjoyable sailing and
solid competitive courses from any wind direction.
As a member of the Inland Lake
Yachting Association the DLYC belongs to a network of
yacht clubs that offer a competitive regatta schedule
and a rich sailing history. This year the DLYC will host
four regattas. Starting off with the MIR C Regatta in
June, the Flying Scot Mid Western Districts in July, WYA
C Championships in August, and rounding out the season
with the 15 annual C World Championships in October.
Along with a competitive sailing
program the DLYC also offers a perfect location for
pleasure sailing and for those that are just taking up
the sport. On the grounds of the DLYC is the Delavan
Lake Sailing School. The sailing school offers youths
and adults alike the opportunity to learn and enjoy the
fun of sailing.
The DLYC includes several fun events
throughout the season to include both our competitive
sailors and our pleasure sailors. Throughout the season
we have “all sails” with staggered starts, all fleets
races against one another around the lake. The moonlight
sail is a favorite for the young and young at heart.
This all sail follows the guide lines of a scavenger
hunt, where members will sail from pier to pier picking
up items. The first one back to the club with their
check list complete is the winner. The added excitement
of the Moon light sail is, it’s held after dark. In past
years we’ve held the parent’s race, ladies race, and the
wife/husband race.
The end of the season is always
capped off with the Commodore’s Ball. This is an elegant
Black Tie evening of dinner and dancing for all members
and new friends to enjoy and reminisce the season. This
event is used to acknowledge the accomplishments and
service of all our members. It is one of the most
awaited parties of the season.
With one of the
finest Yacht Clubs and pieces of land that Southern
Wisconsin has to offer, the DLYC is also one of the most
affordable. Sailors can enjoy no extra charges or
sailing dues to participate in our competitive sailing
schedule, “the wind is free and so is the sailing”. The
DLYC is a must see for anyone looking to join a fun
family oriented yacht club, where you will meet and
enjoy the camaraderie of old and new lifelong friends.
